FO: Sock Yarn Clapotis

FO: Sock Yarn Clapotis
Pattern: Clapotis, by Kate Gilbert
Yarn: Handmaiden Casbah Sock Yarn, 80% Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon, colorway: Stardust
Needles: Can't remember... I think a US 4/3.5 mm bamboo circular needle. The join on the circ broke as I started the decreases, and I finished up the project on straights.

Mods: I used a gorgeous Handmaiden sock yarn for this project instead of the recommended Aran weight. I knit the shawl variation of the pattern, but my yarn choice left me with more of a scarf-sized shawl. I love it!

It is so drapey (a word Kristina used so aptly when describing her Clapotis!) and soooooooo soft. The yarn is really fantastic. I love basically every handmaiden yarn I have laid my eyes and fingers on. Those folks really know what they are doing.

The color is so saturated, and there is a gentle, subtle sheen. The yarn is so soft, and oh so warm. I wore it out last night to a fabulous Burmese dinner in SoMa. The pattern lived up to its reputation as simple, clever, entertaining, and fun. I hope to knit this again, I thoroughly enjoyed it from the cast on to the cast off. I am constantly impressed by the cleverness of the pattern whenever I think about it. Yesterday one of my friends said it looks professional! She will be rewarded with some fingerless mitts, I hope :)

Many thanks to Jess for indulging me in a modelling session before dinner :) She was wearing a lovely cowl she made from Misti Aplaca chunky with the most gorgeous buttons.

A day at Ocean beach, with some of my favorite people and one of my favorite dogs:
